The Fractoprep line of biochromatography media utilizes the
same effective tentacle-based chemistry found in the Fractogel EMD
product line except in Fractoprep, functionally-substituted acrylamides
are grafted onto porous particles of hydrophilic vinyl polymer resin.
The resulting ion exchange media have excellent protein binding capacities
at high flow rates, with enhanced mechanical and chemical stability.
The resins are extremely stable against sodium hydroxide treatment, an
important clean-in-place procedure commonly used in biopharmaceutical
manufacturing. Furthermore, they are mechanically rigid due to the high
level of cross-linking in the matrix polymer which makes Fractoprep very easy
to handle and pack for developmental and commercial-scale manufacturing applications.
Use Fractoprep for:

Chemistry
Fractoprep® resins consist of the following components:
| |
Bead polymer - hydrophilic vinyl polymer resin |
| |
Tentacle - acrylamide polymers |
| |
Functions groups – TMAE, DEAE and SO3 |
The Fractoprep® line of media consists of two anion-exchange resins
Fractoprep® TMAE and Fractoprep® DEAE and a
strong cation-exchange resin Fractoprep® SO3. The beads have a particle size
that range from 30 to 150 µm and consist of large pores that enable free diffusion of proteins into the
beads allowing for high throughput at very low back pressures.
